The SC Commission on Indigent Defense has named Christopher D. Scalzo as the 10th Circuit Interim Public Defender effective immediately, August 24, 2011. He currently served as deputy public defender for Greenville County and is also the president of the SC Public Defender Association. He is a 1997 graduate of Rutgers College and received his Juris Doctor degree in 2002 from the Rutgers University School of Law. He has been a member of the SC Bar since 2002. Mr. Scalzo has been active in criminal justice issues with the SC Legislature including working with the Senate Criminal Justice Reform Committee and the Joint Task Force on Sentencing Reform. He also serves as vice-chairman of the Committee on Performance and Caseload Standards for the Commission. He is married and the father of three children, and another expected in November , 2011.
