GENERAL INFORMATION:
HOTEL:
RESERVATION CONFIRMATION: For those of you staying at Home2 Suites, you should have received your confirmation number from the hotel. If you have not, please let me know.
PAYMENT: SCCID pays for the base room rate+tax and valet parking for students. You are responsible for any additional fees, tips, etc.
Faculty Members please contact the hotel if you need to make advance arrangements for payment or have any questions.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS - Checkout Thursday: We will need to check out of the hotel Thursday morning. The hotel has kindly agreed to hold our luggage and allow us to keep our vehicles with them until PD103 ends on Thursday. They will have a room designated to hold our luggage when we check out on Thursday morning. Please make sure that your luggage is packed, tagged and secured to be held by the hotel.
COMMUTER PARKING: For those of you who will be commuting, unfortunately, the courthouse does not have all-day parking. The best place to park will be the Commons Garage at 60 Beattie Place, Greenville, SC, which is adjacent to the Hyatt Hotel and across the street from the Courthouse. Click the link for address and rates: https://greenvillesc.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Commons-Garage-29
MONDAY EVENING DINNER: If you’re going to be checking in or are already in the area Monday evening, please join us for dinner. We will be going to Grill Marks at 209 South Main Street. It’s Dutch treat. We’ll plan to meet in the lobby of the Home2 Suites about 6pm and walk down to the restaurant, or you can just meet us there. You’re welcome to just show up, but if you know in advance that you plan to join us, please send me a text (803-270-7657) so I can give them an idea how many of us to expect.
WHERE TO GO TUESDAY: See map below for walking directions to the Court House. Tuesday morning, registration is from 8:30 – 8:45 a.m. Enter through the main courthouse entrance (Yellow Star). When you go through security, you should see the Jury Assembly Room. That’s where we’ll be for most of our full-group sessions. We will also be using the jury assembly room break room for our break room.
DRESS CODE: Basically, office casual is fine, just not bum-around-the-house, COVID-Quarantine casual. No need to dress up like you’re going to trial unless that is your idea of casual or you really just want to.
COVID CONSIDERATIONS: At this time, the Chief Justice’s order is still in place requiring masks (All persons entering a courthouse shall be screened for fever and shall wear a protective mask while in the courthouse) so please make sure that you have your mask. SCCID DOES NOT provide masks.
ABSENCES AND TARDIES: If you will be absent or late at any point during PD103, please call or text to let me know you haven’t been abducted by aliens. If you just don’t show up, I will have to track you down.
TUESDAY EVENING SOCIAL: Social Gathering Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 pm at Carolina Ale House 113 South Main Street. SCCID will provide the food. Cash bar.
